Is TF-CBT Right For You?

TF-CBT is a gold-standard, components-based treatment specifically designed to help children, adolescents, and their caregivers overcome the negative effects of traumatic experiences. This modality integrates trauma-sensitive principles with cognitive-behavioral therapy to address a wide range of emotional and behavioral difficulties. By teaching children how to identify and correct distorted thinking patterns related to their trauma, we help them develop a "trauma narrative" that empowers them to move from victim to survivor.

The inclusion of the parent or caregiver is a vital component of the TF-CBT model, ensuring that the child has a supportive and stable environment to facilitate healing. Throughout the treatment, families learn practical stress-management skills, healthy communication, and safety planning. This dual-focused approach not only helps the child resolve their symptoms but also strengthens the caregiver's ability to provide the long-term support necessary for the child’s continued growth and resilience.
